I have been praying over the following for a while. I believe the Lord finally gave me an answer last night:
You gave Keith a book for me on Saturday (Reverse the Curse...), and one for Keith to read as well. I read through the first five (short) chapters and then prayed about it.
For a long time I have had the notion that this is the wrong way to go about learning spiritual warfare. The notion of "we swallow the meat and spit out the bones" is all fine and good, except for a few points. Please consider:
1) Ps144:1: Blessed be the Lord my Rock, Who trains my hands for war, And my fingers for battle [more on this in a minute].
2) What if the "meat" has more bones in it than it does meat? For instance, the book you gave me doesn't even have a lick of the anointing on it. It purely and simply glorifies the devil.
3) Why eat meat that has bones when you can eat meat that doesn't have bones? I.e., why bother with sifting through a bunch of garbage just to get out a few morsels when there's a whole web-site of a ton of stuff straight from the mouth of GOD?
Let me summarize it with this: Up till this point, GOD has been teaching me spiritual warfare by His Spirit, according to Ps144:1. It is simply not necessary to read all this trash when GOD has given us His pure milk, and wants to teach us by His Spirit, an intimate learning experience. We shortchange Him when we seek His lessons through other believers that we know is tainted in the first place, unless He directly, specifically, explicitly tells us to read a certain book or watch a certain tape (e.g. Larson). But I think you're falling for a trap in that I believe GOD is not moving you to read all kinds of varying materials, but is trying to clear all that garbage out and trying to steer you towards the PURE milk of the word which is CCCInc.
Please understand that this message isn't off the cuff. I've been unsettled about this in my spirit for some time, but have not had the Lord's input until He gave me Ps144:1 last night to confirm that this unsettledness was from Him. I personally believe He has much to show you by His Spirit about spiritual warfare, but the "swallow the meat but spit out the bones" mindset is keeping Him from growing and teaching you the pure truths that will cause you to grow beyond a Bob Larson in a matter of days.
